Areas of Practice: My practice includes inter alia insurance litigation, insolvency law, general commercial litigation, labour law, and family law.
Experience: Whilst studying towards my LLb degree at Unisa I was employed at Du Preez Hutcheon Inc where I registered my articles for a period of 5 years. Later the same year the partners went their separate ways and my articles were ceded to Du Preez & Associates. During this time I was responsible for drafting Magistrates and High Court Pleadings, consultations, drafting of opinions, preparing bills of costs and drafting of commercial agreements. In 2009 I was offered a position at Mutual & Federal Insurance Company as an assistant manager. I was employed in the Procurement Department where my responsibilities included drafting of contracts, vendor management, drafting and evaluating tender documents and various aspects of BBEEE reporting and management. I was also required to make recommendations regarding aspects of underwriting and policy wordings, liaise with other members of the Old Mutual Group including Nedbank, Old Mutual and Credit Guarantee Insurance regarding the implementation of projects across the group, joint ventures and aspects relating to the regulation and obtaining of underwriting licences. In 2009 I applied to the Johannesburg Bar for admission into the pupillage program for 2010 and was accepted. I began my pupillage in 2010 at the Island Group under the mentorship of Stephen Vivian. During this time I have been involved in a wide range of matters including litigation matters in both Botswana, drafting opinions on aspects of litigation in the United Kingdom, large insurance matters, general commercial litigation and others.
